The Hamner is ideally located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, an internationally known center for cutting-edge research and development that is also home to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and major facilities of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Three major research universities form the triangle for which the area is named: Duke University in Durham, North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hamner scientists have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers at numerous organizations in the Research Triangle.
