Research
My research in inhalation toxicology focuses on the physical and engineering aspects of transporting materials into the respiratory system. One goal is advancing the engineering of inhalation exposure systems, including the development of specialized equipment for conducting inhalation studies and developing programming for the automation of exposure control and data collection. I have a special interest in the application of aerosol science technology to generate well-controlled and well-characterized atmospheres. Recently, we have been using these methods to study the deposition and retention of aerosols in the respiratory tract, especially to validate mathematical models under development at The Hamner.
